Academic English course aims to develop critical thinking and research skills for students who are studying at a local university or planning to study abroad. Academic English is a compulsory subject that students must study before participating in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at universities abroad. This course aims to develop critical thinking and research skills that students are generally not trained well for in Myanmar.
After completing this course, students will be able to appraise different points of view, choose apposition and defend that position, demonstrate ability to cite and reference appropriately according to APA or Harvard referencing conventions, participate actively in academic tutorial discussions in a variety of roles including chair and note-taker and explain the importance of the principles of academic integrity and apply this understanding to their own academic work.
