IELTS Test Preparation Program
Course Description
The IELTS Test Preparation Program is a two-level program for those who are planning to complete the IELTS test in the near future. The lower of these two levels (IELTS Intensive) is for students who are at approximately Intermediate level in our General English Program and are aiming for a test score of somewhere between 5.0 and 6.5. The higher level (IELTS Intensive Plus) is for students who are Upper-Intermediate level or higher in our General English Program and are aiming for test scores between 6.5 and 7.5. These courses use texts create by Cambridge University (who also design the IELTS test itself) and these are a topic-based courses which select topics which you will find used in the IELTS test. The course provides practice with tasks which are in the test combined with a focus on building English pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar skills which will raise your IELTS test score.
Course Structure
Each of the courses is divided into eight units. Both courses consist of 80 hours of classroom instruction and interaction time with a native-speaking teacher. That means that they are intensive courses so students receive ten hours of IELTS preparation and language instruction each week. These 80 hours are supplemented with homework assignments, particularly for writing, which are checked by the teacher and feedback is provided. Students are also encouraged to use our Student Resource Area which includes library materials as well as e-learning resources available through computer work stations.
Teaching Methodology
EDULINK teachers mix the Communicative teaching approach, which emphasises acquiring language through participating in authentic interactive activities such as speaking test practice, with other approaches like the Lexical approach, which is valuable for building vocabulary, to ensure that students are able to attain the best IELTS score possible.

IELTS Test Strategy Program
Course Description
The IELTS Test Strategy Program is a two-part program for those who are planning to complete the IELTS test in the near future. The two halves of this course (Strategy A and Strategy B) are multi-level courses, meaning that there is no higher or lower level course here. These courses use real IELTS tests that have been conducted in the past and the focus is on how to succeed in the different parts of the test based on the different types of task that you will find there. For example, the reading test includes several different types of question and we will consider the best approaches to answering these. There is a similar approach taken to listening, writing and speaking so that you will be prepared for any type of IELTS test situation if you take both parts of this course.
Course Structure
The course will focus on one skill per lesson and thoroughly explore one or two particular test tasks and the strategies which are best to address them in that lesson. Then, it will focus on a different skill in the following lesson, and will continue in that manner so that you get detailed insight into and practice with all tasks you might encounter on any IELTS test. Each course is 40 hours and students are encouraged to study both courses to ensure that they receive maximum exposure to the IELTS test tasks. Courses are supplemented with homework assignments, especially for writing, and these are checked by the teacher and feedback is provided. Students are also encouraged to use our Student Resource Area which includes library materials as well as e-learning resources available through computer work stations.
